Sadeqa Johnson's latest novel is the story of one American woman's vision in post-World War II Germany that ties together three people in an unexpected way. Ethel Gathers, wife of an American military officer, discovers a local orphanage filled with abandoned mixed-race children of German women and Black American GI's. Her vision will change the course of countless lives and demonstrates that love, in its myriad forms, can be transcendent.
